This drawing depicts the moment when the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Ebenezer Scrooge his own corpse lying on a bed and covered with a sheet. The scene recreates the vision of his own death, in one of the darkest and most haunting passages of Stave Four of A Christmas Carol, when Scrooge confronts the consequences of a life marked by greed, loneliness and a lack of compassion.

This original charcoal drawing is part of the illustrated edition of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, a project that began after Mario Jodra was awarded the 5th Edelvives International Illustration Prize. Following this recognition, Edelvives commissioned him to create the illustrations for its new edition of the book, published in 2025 with a translation by Alejandro Tobar. The edition offers a new visual, expressive and socially engaged interpretation of Dickens’s characters and settings, with particular attention to social contrasts and Ebenezer Scrooge’s inner transformation. Original artwork, signed by hand, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and available directly from the artist’s studio.
