Synopsis

This edition is a compilation of illustrations from La Domenica del Corriere, the illustrated Sunday supplement of Corriere della Sera, which for almost a century (1899–1989) depicted a wide range of current affairs and social events. This concise selection focuses on the subjects the weekly magazine specialised in after the Second World War: crime reporting and the most sensationalist forms of yellow journalism, seeking to attract attention through highly dramatic scenes (accidents, disasters, UFOs, etc.). From the academic epic style of Achille Beltrame to the explosive drama of his pupil Walter Molino, this edition takes us on a journey through the hyperbole of disaster and tragedy, pushed to such improbable extremes that they can verge on comedy.

A bilingual edition in Spanish and Italian that revisits the distinctive visual universe of one of the great Italian illustrated publications of the 20th century.
